What WE're ALL ABout

Scores Running Club invites ALL runners, regardless of ability, to be a part of our socially-based group. Whether you're an elite marathoner, a new runner looking at that first 5K, or something in between, you'll find a home and family with us, The Scores Running Club.

We serve southwestern New Hampshire and the surrounding communities of Vermont and Massachusetts. Our goals are to serve the running experiences of our members and the local running community, while enhancing the many small running clubs and groups in the area.

This club serves as a non-profit, serving youth running, health/fitness related causes within our community.

We believe that all runners are somehow connected, and hope to foster new friendships, camaraderie and team experiences.

This is club built on inclusion, and there will be no annual dues. There are no requirements to attend and we celebrate the other clubs and groups with which you're connected. There's no downside to joining in this fun!

TRaining for a Half? Train with SRC!!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – training season! It’s that time of the year where the runs mean a little more than knocking off the winter rust or just keeping a new year’s resolution. It’s time to get a plan and lace them up!

It you are planning a fall full or half marathon, either your first, fifth or fiftieth, why not run with a great support team to keep you on plan and motivated to cross that fall finish line. The members and friends of Scores Running Club are ready to be the team you need to meet your goals.

Join us on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 5:30 PM @ Railroad Square for a 3 mile fun run followed by a post run informational meeting at 6:15 PM. We will be discussing how you can meet your goal to complete the Demar Marathon or Half Marathon, Sunday September 28, 2019.

Scores Running Club a social running group and we support the idea that no one should run alone - running should be enjoyed with others to share the running experience. By training with other runners, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced runners about their individual journeys to successful lifelong running; offering information about pace, hydration and nutrition, complimentary non-running exercises, and core strength and stretching that has made them successful, (and mostly) injury free runners.

Important information about the Scores Running Club, Marathon or Half Marathon Training:

  • There is no cost to participate with this group. Running is a free sport!
  • There is no expectation to join any running club. All are welcome!
  • Interested first time half/ marathoners, should be able to run 3 consecutive miles prior to starting a training plan – at any pace.
  • Group runs with pre-determined routes will be offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays:
    • Tuesdays - Railroad Square at 5:30 PM - Post run social time at a downtown restaurant/bar after the run
    • Thursdays - Ted’s Shoe and Sport at 5:30 PM – Brief post run recap at Ted’s
    • Sundays - Brewbaker’s Café at 7:30 am - Post run social time at Brewbaker’s after the run

Scholarships 2019

The 2019 Board of Directors is thrilled to share that after two extremely successful 2018 races, we have the opportunity to increase our Scores Running Club Youth Scholarship and extend the scholarship to a third school, Hinsdale School District.
Our mission at Score’s Running Club is:
  1. To recognize and support youth runners and high school runners with annual scholarships, as well as community support for their efforts and achievements.
  2. To promote running as a means for healthier living for both children and adults.
  3. To engage the running community in events that support local charities and community services.

We are proud to be able to accomplish our #1 mission for the third year in a row, with the presentation of a $1,000 scholarship, and a lifetime membership to Scores Running Club. Our search criteria included the following requirements:
  1. Athletes must have completed at least 2 full seasons of either track or cross-country
  2. Athletes presented two letters of recommendation – one from their coach and one from a teacher
  3. And, the best part, the athletes wrote a personal essay about how running is an important part of their lives

2nd Annual Stone Arch Bridge 10 miler
October 27th, 2018Fall is a beautiful season in New Hampshire. We are commonly blessed with colorful foliage, cool temperatures, and crisp clear days… most of the time!! However, on Saturday October 27, for our second Stone Arch Bridge 10-Miler (SAB) we had cold, wet, driving wind and rain! Race day registration was slow, and some registered runners did not show-up. The temperature hovered around the freezing point as the 68 runners (and 3 Ruckers) lined up at the start. The SAB planning team had worked tirelessly to mark the course with bright colorful CHALK arrows to guide the runners through the race. The cold rain quickly washed away the temporary road markers set by the team, and yet, all runners were able to find their way back to the finish line. This was all made possible by our AWESOME course marshals and volunteers!! Our volunteers went well out of their nice, warm comfort zones, to stand through the elements to guide our racers to the finish. Greg Hammett (aka The Hammer!) from Chesterfield, NH, won the race with a time of 59:02, a 5:55/ mile. Karen Jordan (Next Level Running) of Keene, NH, won for the females with a time of 1:11:46, a 7:11/ mile. Special recognition goes out to our youngest finisher, Ryan Teague (10 yrs old), who was also the youngest finisher of the Monadnock Milers MAGP series. We would also like to congratulate our newest class of participants, the Ruckers, Matt Primrose, Nicole Carney, and Erica Kinson. They carried 40-pound packs, through harsh elements, to support and raise awareness for injured and fallen soldiers who serve our country. Kudos to you three!
All in all, the race was a great success, despite the weather. You can call us New Englanders a ‘hardy bunch’ or a bunch of crazy runners. Either way… we accept!
Thank you to the SAB team:
Heather Lancey, Andrea MacMurray, Dave Schillemat, Kathy Pritchard, Jay Larareo, Cassie Cyr, Brian Phillips, Dave Grunier.  And to all the volunteers and course marshals!!
Sincerely
Susanne Olson

First Run of the Year at The Shannon’s was quite the run for some! Eric and Jessica were very gracious in inviting SRC back to their home this New Years. Eric developed multiple route options, printed out maps, and reviewed options with SRC. SRC set on a very brisk run it was approximately 5 degrees outside, but the sidewalks were plowed very well in Peterborough. The sun was shining and 5 degrees felt much warmer once you were running. There were 15+ SRC members and people chose which route they would like to do. At some point a group decided to break off and do a 10k loop, well they might’ve taken a wrong turn because they did at least 10 miles and had to flag a very nice women down to give them a ride back! None the less runners back at the house were starting to get worried so we hopped in Eric’s car to go look for some stray runners. Eric is hunched over the steering wheel and proceeds to tell us that he is not wearing the glasses he should be wearing while driving. No worries we made it back safe and sound just in time to greet the lost runners. And of course enjoy the yummy food!

Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day 10k or 2 m. Walk
Saturday March 17th, 2017 1:00pm

This race is one of the liveliest I’ve ever been to! You will never be alone on the course. It’s a hugely popular community event. The streets line up with community members handing out beverages & snacks and after the race enjoy the lively street fair. Many runners and civilians are dressed up in costume.
This is John Lucey’s hometown. He introduced us to this fabulous race and introduced us to a delicious Irish Restaurant for fuel after the race. I cannot wait to go back!
Previously there were many SRC members heading to the race so we rented a van. If you would like to be part of this amazing event, please email me so we can coordinate renting a van if needed. scoresrunningclub@gmail.com We will determine price for the van based on the number of people interested. Plan on stopping at a delicious Irish Restaurant for dinner.

Red Cap Benefit Run
I wanted to thank everyone that donated, volunteered or participated in the Red Cap Run this year. My family was humbled by the outpour of love and support from our community. The day was overwhelming to have so many people come out to support my mother and in memory of my father. He would have been extremely proud of the community we live. The day went well and I believe it was the warmest race Red cap has ever done. The proudest moment for myself and my sister,  I think would be our mother completing the race on her own two feet and then "jogging" back to bring family and friends in over the finish line. Thank you again to everyone, we deeply appreciate it and will never be able to voice what this means to us. We hope that everyone will be with us next year and the years to come to support whoever is in need of the community hug.

Boston Marathon
Our very own social media board member will be running the Boston marathon this year in support of a wonderful charity. Please consider donating.
Almost 5 years ago I ran my first 5K with family in Rhode Island. It was a St. Patrick’s Day race and we were raising money for The Epilepsy Foundation in honor of my, now 7-year-old son, who was diagnosed with epilepsy at 7 months. Since that time, I have run countless 5Ks, a number of 10Ks, 8 half marathons and one full marathon. I have raised over $3,000 for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth and am taking my fundraising to the next level with the 2018 Boston Marathon for Team MR8, the fundraising team for the Martin Richard Foundation.
Founded in 2014, the Martin Richard Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation formed by the parents of eight-year-old Martin, who was killed in the bombing at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.  In the days after his death, a photo of Martin holding a handmade poster that read “No more hurting people. Peace” was shared over the Internet. To Martin, peace meant togetherness, teamwork, fairness, sportsmanship, inclusion, and kindness.
The Martin Richard Foundation provides opportunities for individuals and communities to live out the values of peace, justice and kindness. By encouraging people to choose kindness, work for inclusion, and embrace diversity in local communities, we aim to influence a generation to live out these values through positive civic engagement.
Martin’s message of peace and inclusion is one that is more important now, than ever before.
Would you consider supporting me in my fundraising goal of $7,500?
To donate online, follow this link:https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/teammr8boston2018/cassiecyr
If you'd like to send a check, please make the check payable to The Martin Richard Foundation, and write my name, Cassie Cyr, on the memo line.

3rdAnnual Ugly Sweater Run
This year we were fortunate enough to have mild temperatures & many participants! We were able to raise over 400 pounds of much needed food for The Community Kitchen. Despite the frigid temperatures, the event was a big success and smiles and laughter were witnessed running and walking around the streets of Keene. Our participants and especially our prize winners were very impressed with the generous and tasty gifts! It is very rewarding for our club to do what we can to help our community.

Youth Scholarship
For the second year in a row, the club this year was able to support our very own youth runner competing at a national level. This year Reagan Hoy heads off to compete at the USATF Junior Olympics in Tallahassee, FL on December 9. We wish Reagan the best of success in her competition!

Proceeds from the  race will be used to fund the clubs annual scholarships for graduating high school seniors from Keene and Monadnock High Schools as well as to support youth running interests in regional or national competitions and youth running camps. Last year our club events allowed us to award $2,000 worth of scholarships to graduating high school students at both Monadnock and Keene High Schools. The final tally of the races proceeds has not yet been determined, but the hope is that we have significantly increased the scholarship awards for the 2018 Spring Scholarship season!

The race committee is extremely thankful for the local businesses that were race sponsors and the volunteers who made this a very successful event. Our sponsors include, Ann Henderson Interiors, Bulldog Athletics, Teds Shoe & Sport, Scores Bar and Grill, The Main Street America Group,  Bayada Healthcare, ServePro of Cheshire County, The Savings Bank of Walpole, the Monadnock Food Co-op, Westside Animal Hospital, and C & S Wholesale Grocers,

The list of thanks to our volunteers is long, but must include race directors Susanne Olson and Andy McCarron for their countless hours of preparation and dedication to make this race possible. Another special thanks to our volunteer coordinator, Cassie Cyr who was key in organizing over 3 dozen volunteers including Mayor Kendall Lane and his wife Molly Lane who were instrumental in our race event success.

The Cheshire County community continues to embrace healthy running events either through running, volunteering or event sponsorship. We are grateful for the  support  and look forward to making this an annual event that returns the support directly back to the community.

Reykjavik Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10k in Iceland in August 19th 2017
A few SRC members traveled to Iceland this August to run a half marathon on 8/19. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day, temperatures were in the mid-50’s and sunny. The course was scenic and pretty flat. Reykjavik was celebrating “Culture Night” so the entire town came out and supported you whether that was handing out items at ‘pep’ stations, encouraging runners with funny signs, providing nice cool ice, and many lively bands. Of course the group could not go all the way to Iceland just to run…we toured the country! Anywhere you looked you would see the most breath taking views. We explored tectonic plates, geysirs, waterfalls, glaciers, hot pots, local wool shops, and much more.
SRC Scholarship Awards Night - Monadnock Regional and Keene High School

Our mission at Score’s Running Club is:
  1. To recognize and support youth and high school runners with annual scholarships, as well as community support for their efforts and achievements.
  2. To promote running as a means for healthier living for both children and adults
  3. To engage the running community in events that support local charities and community services

We were proud to be able to accomplish our #1 mission for the first time this year, with the presentation of four $500 scholarships, and a lifetime membership to Scores Running Club. Our search criteria included the following requirement:
  1. each athlete complete at least 2 full seasons of either track or cross-country
  2. Letters of recommendation from BOTH their coach and one teacher
  3. And, best part, a personal essay about how running is an important part of their lives.
Congratulations to this years winners!

Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day 10k or 2 m. Walk
Saturday March 18th, 2017

The weekend after St. Patrick’s Day a group of club members piled into a van to head to Holyoke to race a 10k. Once again John Lucey was the ring leader! John has enjoyed this race for the past 25 years and was excited to share the fun experience with his fellow club members again this year. Brad our wonderful club president was our amazing van driver! The course was challenging with a few hills, but it was a lively atmosphere, you were never alone on the course running or hearing people cheer from the sidelines. It was a large race approximately 6,000 people. After the race, it’s a huge city celebration! It truly was a memorable experience.

2nd Annual ugly sweater run - Huge Success

This year we were not fortunate enough to have warm temperatures for the Annual Ugly Sweater Run, but we were fortunate enough to have many participants! We were able to raise over 560 pounds of much needed food as well as over $230 in cash donations for The Community Kitchen. Despite the frigid temperatures, the event was a big success and smiles and laughter were witnessed running and walking around the streets of Keene. Our participants and especially our prize winners were very impressed with the generous and tasty gifts! It is very rewarding for our club to do what we can to help our community.

the SRC annual costume run was SCARY fun!
